About Indraneel Banerjee
Indraneel Banerjee, MD, is a University of Florida assistant professor and a urologist at UF Health Jacksonville. His clinical expertise centers on genitourinary malignancies, including cancers of the prostate, kidney, bladder, testis and penis, with particular emphasis on kidney-preserving and robotic bladder cancer surgeries.
Dr. Banerjee cares for his patients by listening carefully and taking the time to understand their unique stories. His patients are not just another medical problem to solve or surgeries to perform — they are the people who trust him when they are most vulnerable, and that trust inspires Dr. Banerjee to provide care that is both evidence-based and tailored to each person.
He contributed to Central Pennsylvania’s first complete robotic radical cystectomy with urinary diversion for invasive bladder cancer and is currently developing a mini percutaneous nephrolithotomy (PCNL) program for large kidney stones.
Dr. Banerjee earned his medical degree and completed a three-year general surgery residency at Calcutta Medical College, India, followed by a three-year urology residency at Swai Man Singh Medical College, Jaipur, leading to board-certification in urology in India. He then completed a two-year clinical fellowship in minimally invasive and robotic kidney transplant in New Delhi, a European Association of Urology-sponsored fellowship in robotic urology in Belgium, and a two-year fellowship in urologic oncology and robotic surgery at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine/Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center.
Before relocating to the U.S., Dr. Banerjee played a pivotal role in establishing India’s first Intuitive-sponsored Urologic Oncology and Robotic Surgery Fellowship program in Bengaluru and a dedicated Urologic Oncology and Robotic Surgery program in Kolkata.
Dr. Banerjee has made substantial contributions to urologic oncology research through numerous publications and books. He serves as a reviewer for major academic journals, American Urological Association guidelines, and AUA abstracts. His achievements include several national and international scholarships in robotic urology and multiple awards for best video presentations in uro-oncology and robotic surgery.
