Fourth year Clerkship Elective Description
The Fourth-year elective is designed specifically for the student with a serious interest in a residency in urology. We strongly recommend a 4-week Sub-Internship rotation for fourth year students; however, we understand the time constraints that may co-exist with residency application and may consider a shorter period. The Sub-Intern 4th year student’s level of responsibility will be the same as a 1st year resident. Students serve as the primary physician under faculty supervision for outpatient clinic and in-patient consults. Students will be expected to take a more active role in the operating room as well as pre-operative and post-operative care of urologic patients under the direct supervision of the urology staff. Self-education is stressed; but students also attend major departmental conferences.
Third year Clerkship Elective Description
The third-year elective is designed for an immersive exposure to the field of urology. The student will be exposed to basic surgical principles in the office, operative suite, and hospital ward settings. The third-year medical student will work closely with residents and faculty.
